O2 Managed Desktop – worry free business

A new service from the Managed Services family - O2 Managed Desktop - ensures the operation of personal computers for an entire firm or selected departments. A common feature of products on this platform is the fact that Telefónica O2 takes care of all technical security, operation, and maintenance of the service; for this new service, end-user support, resolution of extraordinary occurrences, configuration changes, and anti-virus and anti-spam protection are also included. Company owners and their managers thus do not have to concern themselves with operational matters related to IT and can devote themselves entirely to their business activities.

Their main strength consists in the fact that the requirements and parameters stem directly from practice and reflect the current demands and trends of the market. O2 Managed Desktop is exactly this kind of service, and, as a part of it, Telefónica O2 takes care of its customers' computers," says František Schneider, Director of the Business Segment, Telefónica O2 Czech Republic.

In the first phase of the service, the customer decides whether Telefónica O2 will take care of its current computers, or whether they will rent end-user devices from the operator. For the first option, the current hardware must be less than five years old and must meet a number of minimum operational parameters, such as processor speed, amount of RAM, and operating system (Win2000 and higher). For the second option, the customer may choose from a wide variety of desktop computers and notebooks from manufacturers such as HP and Lenovo. The customer can also choose from an ample selection of software. An important requirement is that their network is connected to the Internet, which will enable monitoring over the functionality of the entire system and, if necessary, notification of any errors.

After selected computers have been placed in the care of Telefónica O2 specialists, users will receive comprehensive support. In the event of any sort of problem or requirement, users can contact the service provider, who will resolve the situation either remotely with the assistance of administrator tools, or directly over the phone with the user that requires assistance. If it is a matter of a more serious service interruption, a service technician will be sent to the user's location. Typical problems are, for instance, a non-functioning company network or issues with the hardware itself, viral attacks, and excessive spam; frequent requests concern software installation or updates of existing versions of a program. Telefónica O2 takes care of the regular monitoring and management of end-user stations. This involves checking the extent of utilization of resources, monitoring system functionality, and providing regular reports about its behavior.

The O2 Managed Desktop is being offered in three different variants that differ in their respective SLAs and guaranteed availability. Support is available on business days from 8am to 5pm for the Basic variant, for the Silver variant support is available during the same period and on Saturdays during the same hours. The most demanding customers can choose the Gold variant, which provides them with nonstop service.
