THE 30th MEETING OF ETNO WORK GROUPS FOR PERMANENTLY SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT IS TAKING PLACE IN PRAGUE

At this time, the 30th meeting of work groups for permanently sustainable development that operate in the framework of the European Telecommunications Network Operators (ETNO) is taking place in Prague. The meeting, which is running from June 8 to 9, 2006, is being hosted by ČESKÝ TELECOM. Twenty representatives of leading European telecommunications operators will take part in it. Other specialists will be continuously involved by means of audio conferencing.
The meeting is symbolically taking place during the two-year anniversary of ČESKÝ TELECOM’S entry into the Charter of Sustainable Development. The operator’s parent company, Telefónica, is also a signatory.
Activities that aim to ensure permanent sustainable development do not only include environmental protection. They are based on three pillars: environmental, economic and social responsibility. A company’s level in these fields is evaluated by the “Dow Jones Sustainability Index”. In the chart compiled according to the criteria that this index assesses, Telefónica ranks second.
