ČESKÝ TELECOM INSTALLS A RECORD-SETTING 10 000 ADSL CONNECTIONS IN ONE WEEK
21.3.2006
During the 11th week of this year ČESKÝ TELECOM installed a record-setting 10 000 ADSL connections for new broadband Internet subscribers in the Czech Republic. This situation was influenced considerably by an offer from the nation’s largest telecommunications operator that substantially increased connection speeds as of February 1, 2006. In comparison with 2005, when the average number of installations per week was 4 200, the average number of installations per week in 2006 has risen by 43% to 6 000.
At present, in the Czech Republic there are 330 000 registered subscribers who use broadband Internet connections through fixed telephone lines. The growth over the course of one month is close to 10%. ČESKÝ TELECOM is the preferred fixed-line broadband Internet provider.
ČESKÝ TELECOM Press Spokesman Martin Žabka says, "We are glad that the penetration of broadband connections is increasing in the Republic. Internal statistics indicate that the greatest interest has been expressed in products with a speed of 512 kb/s. Through our company, this means the O2 Internet Expres Impuls service, which over half of all our new customers have had installed." On the other hand, he adds, "Interest is so great that we have had to boost our systems and increase the number of personnel of all our customer contact centres."
Other statistics indicate that 98% of those applying for broadband connections request their own installation service. They then select a suitable modem from the wide range of offers that are available on the Czech market.
