Protocol change instructions

In order for the FUP to be cancelled, your connection must function with PPPoE protocol. All connections activated after January 31, 2008 use this protocol.

If you surf the Internet for long periods of time and you use an older variant of O2 Internet ADSL, you are probably connecting with PPPoA protocol.
You can find your protocol settings in the My Account application. Your password for this application is the same as the Internet connection password you received after ordering the service.

  • Log into the My Account application
  • In the left menu, choose “My services”
  • In the first menu (Connection) click on connection details (first row)


If "PPPoE" appears in the "Protocol" row, the FUP for your O2 Internet ADSL service will be cancelled automatically.
You don’t have to change any settings.

If "PPPoA" appears in the "Protocol" row, we recommend that you request a change to your connection settings.
You can do this directly in the My Account application by clicking “service change” on the “My services” page.
Within two days, you will receive an SMS or an email confirming the change in protocol. Changing the protocol from PPPoA to PPPoE is completely free of charge.


For your Internet connection to be functional, after confirming the change to your service, it is also necessary to change the protocol settings in your modem. Detailed instructions for adjusting the settings of most devices that O2 provides, or has provided, are at www.techzona.cz, in the end-user device section (Czech only).

In the list of devices, choose the modem that you are using then open the protocol configuration page. We recommend that you download the instructions for changing the protocol for your modem before sending a request for changing the protocol of your service. After you have received confirmation that the protocol for your service has been changed, your previous connection settings will no longer be active.

The operators at our technical support line at 800 184 084 will gladly help you with your modem settings or your change of protocol request.
In the event that you do not request a change of protocol, your Internet connection will remain fully functional, but with the FUP limit.
