O2 announces competition for best social service or activity in Ostrava
Jun 18, 2009
Telefónica O2 Czech Republic is announcing a regional competition for the best implemented or prepared project or activity with a social theme. All projects using the internet to improve social services, and that are regionally authorized for the statutory town of Ostrava, which is under the auspices of deputy mayor Mgr. Lubomír Pospíšil, a co-organizer of the entire event, can enter the competition. Going by the name of "The Internet Makes My Life Easier", the competition is connected with the launch of a new generation mobile network (UMTS) in the north Moravian metropolis.
"Modern technology makes every day life easier for millions of people around the world. Just as in the commercial sphere, its services can provide the non-profit sector with considerably more effective work and better results in the non-profit sector. Therefore we are supporting it with all possible resources," says Veronika Řečníková, Manager of Social Corporate Responsibility, Telefónica O2 Czech Republic
Out of all project entries, a committee will select the three best, who will receive the fastest mobile internet data connection, including the necessary hardware, for free for two years. Evaluation criteria will be the usefulness of the project, its sustainability, and the resourcefulness of the overall solution. Private non-profit organizations and legal and physical individuals who use social services and related activities in the administrative territory of the town of Ostrava, with the exception of allowance organizations and town districts, can enter the competition.
Entrants can submit their applications between June 18 and August 31, 2009. A gala announcement of the winners will take place in September 2009. Entrants can find more information at www.kpostrava.cz.
The contest is connected with the successful launch of a third generation network in the town of Ostrava. Residents of the Silesian metropolis have thus been able to use all the benefits of this network, especially the fastest mobile internet connection on the Czech market. In addition, a special offer lasting until July 12, 2009 has been prepared for them, enabling them to get O2 Mobile Internet on its own for just CZK 600 with VAT per month. With the signing of a 24-month contract, customers can get a compact USB Stick that lets them connect to mobile internet for just CZK 1. It is small enough to take everywhere so they can really have their own mobile internet.
